A hot August sun was slowly baking New York City into oblivion. Mouse trudged into the warehouse, sticky sweat clinging to her. Her fair skin was red, especially on the back of her neck and arms. The bag felt extra heavy today, and she dropped it on the floor on her way to the sink in the corner. Pulling an empty bottle from her bag, Mouse filled it with brown water that came from the rust-covered spigot. She gulped it down, despite the fact that it would probably make her sick again. But it was wet, and not too warm, and at the moment, that was all she needed.

Chapter 2

Trembling a little at the loud thunder, Mouse crawled into the warehouse and shook rain water from her hair. Like most days, she'd brought a little something extra for Otto. Today, she moved silently to the desk that he had set up, and placed an orange near his elbow. It had been a good day. Any day she could sneak a piece of fruit past Mr. Marsalla was a good day.

So despite the fact that last night had been bad, and there were fresh bruises on her arms and she was tired and sore...she tried to look at the good. The rain was relieving some of the day's heat, and she had an apple. It was a good day.

Once upon a time, when she had been a girl, her gran had called her their Maggie Mouse. It had been a fun nickname, pulled from a favorite children's book and sticking because of her small stature. Mommy would laugh and made her a headband with little mouse ears on it, and tease her about wanting all the cookies in the house.

Later, when her gran had died and mommy stopped paying attention and the bad men moved into the house, her name had been dropped, and she simply became Mouse. Not quite the OUAT crowdby ~SilverGryphon8

So... you guys remember Rose and Kiran right? Rose began life as an OC created for Once Upon A Time by

and Kiran started as a character for an original story who then migrated quite happily into the OUAT verse.

Well, we decided we liked them and their story that we're going original with it, adapting the overall plot and arcs to a story of our own- what we'd created for them in our fan RPs touched loosely enough on the canon storyline that we can pretty much excise the OUAT stuff without too much trouble.

Plot Summary:

Rose Red, Crown Princess of Archfleur and the elder sister of Snow White, is forced into exile after her wicked stepmother murders her father and sister. While seeking allies to help her forment a rebellion against the usurping Queen, Rose encounters a powerful sorcerer named Kiran Vinayak, who was turned into a cat by the Queen. Kiran, who fled his home at the court of Hadiqa in the Seven Kingdoms of Sand after trying to usurp a throne for himself and killing his master, agrees to join Rose in her quest so he can exact revenge upon the Queen who trapped him in the form of a cat and put himself in a position where he can steal the crown of Archfleur.

Rose must win the hearts of the oppressed people of her stolen kingdom and the loyalty of Kiran, while Kiran must win Rose's trust and conceal his designs on her throne. Together, they must reclaim Archfleur and defeat the Queen.

I am so excited to get to working on this story I can't stand it.

In the sketches above, we have Kiran, the charming gent in the Middle Eastern garb and the turban I've decided I hate drawing, little miss thorny spitfire Rose Red (who seems to be very ticked off at Kiran in that sketch on the left for some reason) and Rose's chief healer, Hollyrose. Hollyrose is an absolute hoot and has showed up numerous times in our RPs. I thought it was high time to start working on concepts for him.

I am far too excited about this as well XD I adore all these sketches and the stand off in the corner. Kiran's probably trying to push her back into her corner and she doesn't like it *giggles* but she does need to reined in from time to time.
And Hollyrose asdfhg! He's so adorable :dies: I want to hug him!
Curious. I wonder if Hollyrose chose his name to signify his duty to the Queen, or is it just a happy accident they both have the same flower in their name?
Either way, I am psyched about this story and can't wait to continue

Hollyrose's name is completely coincidental. I came up with the name on the spot and it wasn't until about two or three RPs later that I realized they both had the same flower in their name. This is what I get for coming up with names on the spot.

And that turban... so much hate for the turban
